Comeback Moms on msnbc

Katie Couric interviews Loretta Kaufman and Mary Quigley, authors of Going Back to Work:  A Survival Guide for Comeback Moms, in this video.  Good advice about going back to work and developing a strategic plan for re-entry.

My favorite tip is that education is the “magic bullet” for re-entry. Women should go back to school to update their skill set and prove to employers they are committed to their careers by investing in their education and acquiring the most recent knowledge of issues in their chosen industry.

I would add that from my experience, going back to school increases confidence, expands your network through professors, classmates, alumni and professional contacts and exposes you to new career options.

I loved the way Mary Quigley described education as “collagen for your career.”  I’ll definitely take a little boost.
