In an article from msnbc.com, CEO John Challenger of the Chicago-based, outplacement consulting firm, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, stated the following:
“There is much more understanding today of the choice people make to leave the workforce, whether it is to volunteer, work part-time or put more time into raising their children. The automatic discounting of that time away is disappearing.”
According to a survey conducted by Salary.com, more than 95% of employers hire moms returning to work and more than 80% actively recruit moms re-entering the work force. Bill Coleman of Salary.com states:
“Companies are actively looking for moms. They [moms] need to step back and realize they have the skills companies want. It [age] may have been a stigma years ago when the work force in general was less educated and the work more physical, but no longer.”
